Washington Monument

Ok, so I guess pictures taken on my cell phone won't post :-( wah! It was after midnight when we got to sleep & wake up call was at 6:30. So we didn't get caught up on sleep but got enough to get us through the day. We slept like logs!! Hotel breakfast & then we were off for the day. 1st stop was the Washington Monument. Pictures of this don't do it justice. It's very tall!! The marble used at the bottom is lighter than the marble at the top because construction had halted for a time. We got to ride the elevator up to the top & take a few pitures. You can look out to see the Jefferson & Lincoln Memorials, the White House, & the Capital building. On the elevator ride down, it slows down & the panels on the 2 doors illuminate so they act like windows. We were able to see some of the stones donated by States & Masonry groups that were embedded in the stonework of the monument. Pretty cool! Now were at the World War II Memorial & then heading to the Lincoln
Memorial. I'm trying to take all of this in but my brain is tired & a bit fried.
